DONATE TO JORDAN
I was raised in rural Tennessee and educated in public schools, and I came to Hamilton County to pursue higher education — where I found not only opportunity, but a community I’m proud to call home. My path through school wasn’t always easy. I struggled early on and didn’t immediately recognize my own potential. What changed my life was my teacher, Mrs. Paz, who believed in me, challenged me, and invested her time in helping me succeed. Her mentorship — first in high school and later in college — helped shape me into the engineering graduate and community member I am today.
That experience instilled in me a simple but powerful belief: education works when teachers are supported, standards are high, and students are expected to rise to the occasion.
As someone who has benefited from strong public schools, I believe we must protect and strengthen them — not through bureaucracy, but through accountability, transparency, and responsible leadership. Taxpayer dollars should be used wisely and focused directly on the classroom. We must ensure our schools are delivering real results in reading, math, and career readiness so students graduate prepared for the workforce, college, or skilled trades.
Hamilton County has schools that are excelling and others that are facing academic challenges. We cannot ignore performance gaps. We must raise expectations, support proven instructional strategies, and ensure that every child — regardless of background — has access to a quality education. Growth is important, but proficiency matters. Our goal should be students mastering grade-level standards and leaving high school ready for the real world.
Teachers are the backbone of our school system. Recruiting and retaining strong educators, particularly in areas like special education, must be a priority. That means maintaining orderly classrooms, supporting teachers in managing behavior, and making sure they have the resources and respect they deserve. A safe, structured learning environment is essential for academic success.
I also believe parents are partners — not spectators — in their children’s education. Families deserve clear communication, transparency in decision-making, and a seat at the table. Trust between schools and families is built through openness and accountability.
My background in engineering has trained me to approach problems with data, discipline, and long-term planning. I believe our school board should operate the same way: focused on measurable outcomes, fiscal responsibility, and steady leadership that puts students first.
Public education helped shape my future because someone took the time to invest in me. Now, I want to help ensure Hamilton County schools remain strong, accountable, and focused on academic excellence — so every student has the opportunity to succeed and every family can be confident in their neighborhood school.
